Abstract : The study was carried on Thirty Patients with age range between 25-50 years regularly visiting dental clinic of Faculty of Dentistry (Tanta University). Each patient received at least two different restorations. The distributions : of materials and the teeth locations were randomized. The operating sites were isolated using rubber dam to prevent salivary contamination and to facilitate the restorative procedures. Class V cavity was prepared according to caries extension with incisal or occlusal margin in enamel and gingival margin in dentin or cementum using the conventional instruments andlimited to just removal of carious lesions without preparing any undercuts (nomacro mechanical means of retention). For composite restorations, a 1 mm bevel were placed on the enamel margin to increase the surface area for bonding. Deep caries if found, was removed with large round bur at low speed and a thin layer of calcium hydroxide was placed on the deep portion of the cavity. The procedures for placement of nano filled Glass ionomer restorative materials , composite restorations and its adhesives were done following manufactures instructions.Finishing and polishing were performed using finishing burs and polishing discs. Each restoration was evaluated clinically at base line (24 hours), 6 months and after one year using USPHS criteria. This criteria include retention rate, color matching. |
