Abstract

The present study is directed to evaluate the toxic effect of six compounds, two acaricides (fenpyroximate and ethion),one pyrethroid (cyhalothrin), one mineral oil (CAPL2), and two plant extracts (black cumin and wormseed) against Tetranychus urticae and Aphis gossipi with respect to adult mortality and some biological aspects (egg deposition and egg hatchability). Moreover, Two pesticides (Malathion and pirimicarb), one mineral oil (CAPL-2) and two plant extracts (black cumin extract and wormseed extract) were used against A.gossypii with respect to adult mortality and some biological aspects (nymphal stage and offspring newly emerged nymphs). The results showed that cyhalothrin was the most toxic compound, followed by fenpyroximate and ethion to adult females of T. urticae , while wormseed extract was the least toxic to adult females and eggs of T.urticae. Wormseed extract is the most safe compound to adults of predatory mite A.gossipi. Malathion showed the highest toxicity followed by pirimicarb against A.gossypii. Cyhalothrin is the most effective compound tested on egg deposition. Most of the compounds tested proved to be of good ovicidal effect on egg hatchability of T.urticae.
