The State of Almohads was established on a religious reformist invitation; its slogan was the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice advocated by Imam Mahdi Mohammed bin Toumert. The goal is to achieve a comprehensive Islamic caliphate, especially after the destruction of the State of Almorvid which deteriorated and then The State of Almohads was founded on their tracks. So, the purpose of this research was to examine the extent of success of Almohads state in achieving its objectives and see how their commitment to the principles and ideas advocated by imam Mahdi Mohammed bin Toumert and their conformity to reality and to find out the role played by the rulers of Almohads in the development of the country economically, militarily, and architecturally and their influence in changing some of the community habits Al Maghreb.So, the research did not overlook explaining the situations, the circumstances, and all the factors that went with the Almohads in their success and failure as well.
So it must be said that the Islamic Maghreb lived golden age by the establishment of Almohads where is the actual beginning of the efforts of the rulers of Almohads to extend their sovereignty over the whole Maghreb. The first spark of the military movements began from city Ogmat then Tnmell and the military conquests launched to include the entire Maghreb.
Because of the importance of this part of the empire of strategic and geographically Almohads rulers paid much care to the cities of Morocco, which were destroyed with its villages and tribes. So Morocco saw a re-planning and redistribution of the tribes. Almohads then built in the middle the capital of their kingdom. They were interested in the reconstruction of towns and villages around, adding new cities the thing that reflected the great attention of Almohads rulers to construction and reconstruction. So, the empire enjoyed a great deal of grandeur the thing that gave the King of Almohads luxury and helped the state to achieve its policy, to subdue the parish and to gain respect form its neighbors.
furthermore, rulers of Almohads paid much care to build the country’s economy and achieving progress in domestic industries, which helped in turn increase movement of domestic and foreign trade the thing that made the rulers of the Almohad pay care to improving roads and providing it with utilities and so the cities in the southern Morocco turned to big markets traders from all over the placegiving comes forth and consequently the social life achieved a great deal of glamor and sophistication.
the researcher, thus, had to choose this subject for a study to highlight the role played by the Almohads state during its rule of the Maghreb and the study complements previous studies that were presented for the era of Almohads
.. The study consists of four main chapters the first chapter of the study is an introduction to Almohads and the most important factors that affected the emergence of the Almohad by Mahdi Mohamed Ibn Tumart and the inauguration of Abdul Momin ibn Ali to govern the country, and making governance genotype. included the study also included the economic system and what they contain of the most important agricultural crops, fisheries, livestock and various industries as well as trade in its both sides, the internal trade with its markets and subsidiaries, and the foreign markets and the most important roads whether land or sea, as well as trade relations between Morocco and other countries. This also includes chapter on the military regime in terms of the most important components of an army of Arabs and tribes Sanhaja and tribes Almassamdh and Turkish invaders and Sudanese Christians band of mercenaries with a rating of these elements and divided into cavalry and infantry and archers.
And also includes a study of the most important weapons used in wars, which were represented in two types: light weapons such as the sword and spear and bow and arrow and dagger and heavy weapons such as catapults and tank Aerdah and ladders siege.He also talked about defensive fortifications of armor knights helmet and Amofr and arms and legs and gear Alaktef and curtains also been talk in this chapter about the most important constituent parts of the fleet, as well as weapons used in this fleet
The second chapter is devoted to talk about the classes of the Moroccan society and the various sects of the ruling classes, which include Alashra, Alkhomsen, Alsabeen, the students, folks Aldarogerha, and the others of the different classes.
In The third chapter the researcher talked about the most important aspects of construction in Al Maghreb during the era of Almohads; the chapter included the nature of construction, and its cities such as Marrakech, Salé, Rabat Alfath, Taza, and Gabal Tarek city. The researcher talked also about the military buildings such as the citadles, fortresses, and fences. The chapter also foucused upon the mosques.
The forth chapter tackled the aspects of the social life in Almohads such as family, marriage, divorce, and nursery. It also handled the health affairs, the different means of treatment, the various councils including the scientific and the preaching ones, the the different kinds of celebrations as the religious and the military celebrations for example. The dissertation ended with a list of the works and the references that have been used by the researcher.
The researcher depended in this study upon the analytical approach which is based upon a close reading of the references. Moreover, the researcher used the historical approach which is based upon a careful selection and accurate analysis of the sources about the Almohads.
