Abstract from a total of 500 dead chicks bacteriologically examined for the recovery of salmonella arizonn two isolates were recovered. The isolates vere identi-fied both morphologically, biochemically and serolo7- ically. - The two isolates were pathogenic to one day old Hubbard chicks infected both orally and subcutaneously. The subcutaneously route was superiour to the oral one. - The clinical microscpic rnd macroscopic pictures of the disease were studied. - Shedding of the organism persisted up to 48 days in subcutaneously infected birds and up to 57 days in orally infected ones. - The serological response of the experimentally infected chicks with the two isolates reveeld agglu-tinin at the 2nd week post infection and gradually increased till the 9th week of eg”. - The in vitro sensitivity of the two isolates to the different therapeutic agents shifted that they were equally sensitive to gentamycin, cefalotin, streptomycin and resistant to pencillin, ampcillin and varied in sensitivity to lincomycin josamycin, tetracyclin chloramphenicol and nystatin. |
