Abstract
-The present study was carried out during 2010-2012 to study the effect of some physical treatment and chemical treatments on improvement of onion seeds germination (which stored for one or two years) at laboratory, to determine the impact of such treatments on obtained transplants characteristics in nursery.
-In this study, seeds of onion (Allium cepa L.) cv. “Red Beheri were obtained after harvest in June 2010 and 2011 years, respectively from a private farm, Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate. The experiments of this study were conducted at both Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory of Vegetables & ornamentals Dept., Fac. Agric., Mansoura Univ. and greenhouse Qlabasho village, El-Dakahlia.
This study revealed the following results :
1-moist-chilling at 5 ± 10 C for 15 days improvement of onion seeds germination stored for different periods and subsequent growth in nursery.
2-KNO3 at 3% improvement of onion seeds germination stored for different periods and subsequent growth in nursery.
