Abstract

This thesis deals with one of the electric vehicle applications .The proposed model is an electric chair from a company in Tenth of Ramadan city, this company is one of the manufacturers of electric chairs, it is suffering from the Inefficiency of the control unit mounted on the chair, affecting negatively the company’s sales. The Proposed model is designed for low-cost controller, the study was conducted in various ways to control electric vehicles .One of the ways to control the unit and the proposed work was chosen. The representation of the performance of the unit was studied by using Matlab program and the analytical results were taken which showed a good performance with simplicity and efficiency. This thesis include five chapters.
The following are a brief summary of these chapters :
Chapter (1) : A comprehensive reference study was done for the various types of electrical vehicles, advantages and disadvantages of different types of motors used with these electric vehicles have been reviewed.
Chapter (2) : A comprehensive reference study was done for the various methods of control in electrical vehicles, as well as a comparison of these methods, explaining the advantages and disadvantages of each method.
Chapter (3) : The electric chair used by disabled persons was chosen as a prototype for electric vehicle .After a study of the special problems of this chair ; especially the problem of bad performance of the control unit during operation, a new control unit has been designed and built. This unit could Summery be installed on the electric chair to replace the old one. The suggested control unit consists of a modern digital controller of the proposed signals in addition to circuits for electronic connection which can be installed on the electric chair.
Chapter (4) : The proposed control unit was tested by operating it with the electric chair. The intensity of the current and the speed of rotation of the electric chair tires were recorded on changing both the value of voltage feeding each of the two chair motors and the output of the control circuit. Also, a program for analyzing the performance of this electrical chair has been designed and a comparison between the analytical results of the proposed unit with the practical results was reported Which shows the efficiency of the control unit of the proposed control unit.
Chapter (5): In this chapter, we offer the summary of this research and it also includes the most important recommendations and proposals that can be done in the future in this field.
