Abstract

from (29) flocks suspected to infected with NDV a total 418 brids examined during this study, these flocks were located in (14) different localities of Sharkia Governorate. All of these birds sera examined by H I test and the results of H.I. test geometric mean titre (G M T) ranged from 4.3 to 5.4 in the first (21) flocks and these flocks were inproved when treated with respiratory antibiotics and or vitamines B,E supplement. But the G M T of the last 8 flocks were ranged from 6.5 to 13.29 which considered high indicate presence of ND infection in these flocks. Also these flocks (last 8) were examined clinical; and by post, mortum examination to try if it is possible to diagnose:, NDV by these means (clinical signs and post mortum examination) and concluded that this meacis not suffecient for diagnosis of NDV where the signs varied from apparent respiratory signs to sever Nervous signs with high mortality and morbidity. The last 8 flocks (120 serum samples) were examined by AGPT and the results showed that the positive reactors - ranged from 47.7% to 85.7% with percentage of 68.3% (82 samples from total 120 serum samples). The ELISA test was carried out on 13 serum samples o f different H I titre ranging rom 3 log 2 to 15 log 2 and the correlation between the 2 tests (H I and ELISA was found in only 10 serum samples from 13 examined) (76.9%). Virus isolation trials were carried out on organs of 120 infected birds. - The virus was successfuly isolated from 34 birds (28.3%) from the first 4 flocks only, while the NDV failed to isolated from the last 4 flocks. These isolated NDV strains examined by haemagglutination of equine RBCs suspension in comparison with F. strain of NDV where I found that all of hese 34 isolate failed;o agglutinate equine RBCs suspension while the F. strain agglutinate equine RBCs indicating that all of these isolated NDV were isolated from infected cases.
