Abstract

This study was conducted in the department of Genetics (Drosophila Lab), Faculty of Agriculture, Ain Shams University, Egypt.Drosophila are considered good model to study the genetic basis of many biological processes and mechanics to understand the molecular basis, whereas more than 70%of human genes were orthologous to Drosophila. Therefore, it is possible to detect the function of the gene in Drosophila. (Rabinow, 2002).
Drosophila have a range of known genes, which have important role in the development , and when these genes mutate, they claim to the formation of tumors. Therefore, the Therefore, the focus of experiments in this research is to discovery of the gene function (reverse genetic ) in Drosophila using different method, where the gene mutants lead to increase in the growth and reproduction over proliferation recessive updated tumors and examining the cell clones in the form of an original homozygous in the background heterozygous using mutants isolated by Piggy-Bac.
The major findings of this investigation could be summarized in the following:
1. Data confirmed that the occurrence of lethality in this mutant is due to insertion the element (Piggy-Bac) in the gene-specific and thus disorder occurs in a gene defect appears in the function. Lethality in each candidate Spn-5 gene was tested using Piggy-Bac excision technique to verify that lethality is owing to Piggy.
