Abstract The present study aimed to evaluate the capacity of two plant species (Helianthus annus and Luffa aegyptiaca) to accumulate and tolerate lead stress. Furthermore, Differential display reverse transcription (DDRT) technique was used to analyze differentially up-regulated genes in Helianthus annuus in response to Pb exposure. The two plant species were cultivated in soils provided with different concentrations of lead. The experiment continued grown for a period of two months. Root and shoot samples were collected after 60 days. Lead concentrations were determined in roots and shoots of each species. The concentrations of Pb+2 in the soil were determined as available and total. |
