Abstract

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide.Lung cancer is divided into non-small cell and small cell.Surgery in treatment of choice in early stage diseases.Chemotherapy is a mainstay treatment for advanced stage.Radiotherapy play an important rule in treatment as a definitive therapy either alone or in combination with chemotherapy. Positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) has shown to improve targeting accuracy. Three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy, stereotactic body radiation therapy and intensity modulated radiation therapy using dose escalated treatment appear to improve local disease control and possibly survival with reduced toxicity. Four dimensional CT scan helps to individualize treatment by accounting for tumor motion. Daily on–board imaging reduces treatment setup uncertainty and provides information about daily organ motion and variation in anatomy.
