Abstract Wimax stands of worldwide interoperability for microwave access. It is an emerging technology that delivers high speed wireless broadband at a much lower cost. It has the ability to provide satellite internet services even in areas that are difficult for wired infrastructure to reach and the ability to overcome the physical limitations of traditional wired infrastructure. It is intended to handle high-quality applications like voice, data and video services. Qos refers to the capability of a network to provide better service to the selected network traffic over various technologies. For each application and for each customer, a different set of requirements is critical. Providing quality of service (qos) to different service classes with real-time and nonreal-time traffic integration is an important issue in wimax systems. Mobile wimax can meet Qos requirements for a wide range of data services and applications. Scheduling in wireless networks has received considerable attention as a means for providing high-speed data services to mobile users. Scheduling module in mobile wimax is necessary to provide Qos for each class as it is responsible for resolving contention for shared resources in a network by allocating bandwidth among the users and determining their transmission order. |
