Abstract

The present thesis was divided into three parts :-
The frist part: dealt with the incidence of Salmonella and E.coli in feed
stuffs. Bacteriological examination of total 1083 iced stuff samples showed that 29 samples harboured Salmonella organisms with an incidence of 2.97% the ’lightest rate of Salmonella isolation was from feed stuffs of animal origin ( 4.95%) then feed stuffs of plant origin(2.24”/o)then formulated rations (1.92%). There were 18 isolates with 6 different serovars namely S. typhimurium (33%), S. entritidis (16.66%) S. gallinarium pullorum (5.55%), S. mentevideo (22.22%), S.. cerro (11.11%) and S. tennessee (11.11%). All sample examined were positive for E.coli and feed stuffs of animal origin show luxurant growth than feed stuffs of plant origin and formulated rations while full fat soya bean meal show few colonies. The second part: was directed to study the efficacy of ftmgimold ( mixture of propionic acid and sodium propionate ) and salgard ( mixture of formic and propionic acid plus their salts ) as a Salmonella and E.coli inhibitors feed additives with recommended concentration by manufacturing company 0.1% and 0.4% of feed respectively on each pl`S. typhimurium and E.coli added to the feeds at ratio 105 C.F.U/g for each. The fungimold was more , effective against S.typhimurium than salgard while the two have the same effectiveness against S.typhimurium and E.coli. In general the • hest result of inhibition of both S.typhimmi um nnd E.coli were Obtained within 72 Tours. The continous inhibitory effect against S. typl(imuriumand E.coli of both but products can extend to 2 3 weeks with most feed stuffs and fbrmulated rations
l ungimold gave best result of inhibition against 1)0(11 cola S. typbimuriutu and The third part : studying the efficacy of each fungimold and salgard with 0.1%, 0.4% conentration respectively as Salmonella and E.coli inhibitors feed additives to control them in the intestinal tract of chicks which have been given in feed at ratio 105 C.F lig feed at age of 3 days for 14 days. Fungimold gave the he result of Protection against S. typhimyrium and E.coli than salgard.
The rate of protection of fungimold and salgard agai
were R5.7 nst S. typhimurium tact hut in E.coli the pr olection rale were 92.86% and 89.3%, respectively.
The inhibitory erred of the products which contain organic acid as bacterial inhibitory feed additive differs according to :-
I- The chemical composition, the more propionic acid and it’s salt the more inhibitory effect.
2-Type of bacteria.
3-The bnliering capacity of each feed stuffs, the feed stuffs of animal Origin decrease the inhibitory effect of the products.
4-The f ime elapsed helm sampling.
5-level of cotamination.
