Abstract A total number of 120 growing buffalo calves aging from 5 to 10 months of both sexes were used for some hematological and biochemical studies which associated with digestive troubles in calves. from these calves: Group 1 : 30 calves were clinically healthy and used as a control group. Group 2 : 30 calves were suffering from moderate diarrhea. Group 3 : 30 calves were suffering from severe diarrhea. Group 4: 20 calves were suffering from tympany. 5 calves were used for experimental induction of mild and severe acidosis (group A ) . 5 calves were used for experimental induction of severe acidosis (group B). The hematological findings revealed a significant elevation of the packed cell volume, hemoglobin content, red blood corpuscles, and white blood corpuscles while significant decreases of mean corpuscular volume, mean corpuscular hemoglobin and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration were recorded. Total serum protein as well as serum contents of albumin, alphaj, alphas, beta., beta, and gamma globulin were not significantly affected in moderate diarrhoeic calves. Also serum potassium was not changed while serum sodium and chloride levels were significantly decreased. |
