Abstract Breast cancer is the most common and most dreaded malignancy in women. The disease accounts for 25% of all malignancy seen at the Gustave Roussy Cancer Institute in France and 31.3% of all cancers among Egyptian women in the Cairo metropolitan area (Omar and contesso, 1984) In recent: years our knowldge of breast cancer has progressed rapidely resulting in new approaches and techniques in early detection and diagnosis, improved treatment methods, prognosis and rehabilitation. These improved treatment modalities include advances in surgery, radiotherapy and hormone therapy. The aim of this study is to review the relation of estrogen and progesterone receptors to diagnosis Lherapy and prognosis of breast cancer and also to discuss the importance of some tumour markers in the follow up and diagnosis of breast cancer. |
