Abstract Since 1956 Wullestein succeeded in closure of the drum perforation by use of full thickness skin graft. The trials started to use many other materials such ~ vein by Zollner 1956, Temporalis fascia by Shea 1960 and tragal perichondrium by Good hill 1964 (Vincent et al 1993). Grafting a tympanic membrane perforation is nowadays a relatively an easy surgical procedure as long as suitable material is available for closure, but still every material has advantages and disadvantages (James and Benecke, 2001). In this study, we developed a new artificial eardrum patch for healing TM perforations using water- insoluble chitosan. The in vivo study of this CPS was done in Benha University Hospital from May 2009 to February 2012. ~~: Series of ”40 ’*-ents” were collected from patients prepared for myringoplasty. otr collection data were: patients with 15 small and 25 medium*perforation, absence of any middle ear , .”’(” pathology or ossicubJr lesion (Fixation-. necrosis - discontinuity |
