Abstract

This study was performed in Internal Medicine & Infectious and Fish Diseases Dept. Faculty of Veterinary. Medicine, Mansoura University:-
This study was carried out on 122 puppies aged from one day to one year in four different localities in four different governorates (El-Dakahilia, Giza, Cairo and Helwan) suffering from fever, bloody or mucoid diarrhea, vomiting dehydration, and sudden death.
The parvovirus antigen detection from rectal swabs using IC revealed that 67 samples were positive. Those samples were inoculated in Vero cell culture 3 successive times. 40 samples of these tested samples showed clear CPE Identification of the obtained virus isolates using VNT and DFAT 40 samples were positive
The higher rate of virus isolation observed in age 2-3 months (68%) and the higher rate of virus isolation was observed in summer season.
On vaccination trails using live attenuated canine parvovirus vaccine, all vaccinated puppies exhibited specific CPV antibodies by the 1st week post vaccination recording a peak titer by the 3rd week, these titers were found to be decreased post challenge. The control non vaccinated challenged puppies showed moderate clinical signs. Values of the mean of total leukocyte count (T.L.C) and lymphocyte were similar in all groups (vaccinated groups and control group) prior to challenge, and in vaccinated groups (1, 2) T.L.C did not show a significant changes after challenge. In the control group, there was significant DROP in T.L.C post challenge.
There was significant effect of Acyclovir as antiviral against CPV infection, There was not clinical signs observed in (treatment and control), but in group observed mild signs.
There was differences were found for values of the white blood cells between groups, in (untreated), showed that significant decrease in total leukocyte.
