Abstract AI Laqitah-Wadi Abu Wasil area is located in the Central Eastern Desert of Egypt between latitudes 25° 37’ 50” & 25° 55’ 00” N and longitudes 33° 00’ 00” and 33° 22’ 50” E covering about 1200 krrr’.The topography of the area is not highly rugged and characterized by low to moderate relief. It is generally covered by Phanerozoic sediments belonging to different formations and ages starting from the oldest to youngest as follow: Tarif Formation, Quseir Clastics, Duwi Formation, Dakhla Formation, Esna Shale and Thebes Formation, as well as Quaternary deposits. Airborne gamma-ray spectrometric and magnetic data were acquired, in 1984, by Aero service Division, since, the area is a part of the Eastern Desert of Egypt. The aerospectrometric data have been interpreted qualitatively and quantitatively in order to delineate and recognize the uraniferous anomalous zones in the study area. |
