Abstract
Expansive Soil Is Found In Many Regions In Egypt Instance In The Naw Desert Cities Including New Sohg City (Town In Upper Egypt) In This Study The Soil Specimins Were Taken from the Place Of The Faculty Of Veterinary Medicine-New Soha University from A Depth Of 5 Meters And Usde To Conduct The Experimental Program.
The physical and mechanical properties of the natural soil were determined. Then the soil was treated with chemical additives ”Addicrete P and Addicrete BV” at 0.5%, 1% and 2% by dry weightof soil for each chemical additives. After treatment, the properties of various samples were determined at different time intervals. The untreated soil values were used as control points for comparison purposes.
It is revealed that a change of expansive soil texture has taken place when Addicrete P is mixed with expansive soil. Plastic limit increases and liquid limit decreases, which decreases plasticity index with increasing Addicrete P. While Addicrete BV does not change within soil texture or the Atterberg limits of the soil. As the amount of ”Addicrete P and Addicrete BV” is increased, there are apparent reductions in optimum moisture content, unconfined compressive strength. Also the values ofand free swell.
