Abstract

This study was carried out to investigate the effect of dietary different formulae on biological parameters of albino rats inflicted at the same time with obesity and hypercholesterolemia .Forty adult male albino rats, weighting (180 -200 g)were derived from Research Institute of Ophthalmology, Medical Analysis Department, Giza, Egypt. All rats were fed basal diet for 4 consecutive days. Each rat was housed in an individual stainless steel cage under controlled condition. Diets were introduced to rats in a special non – scattering feeding cup to avoid loss of food and contamination. Tap water was provided to rats by means of glass tubes projecting through wire cages from inverted bottles supported to one side of the cage. Food and water provided and checked daily. Experimental rats assigned for inflicting with obesity and hypercholesterolemia using special diets. Inflicted rats fed on 10%of each formula as added to the basal diet .Comparison between suggested formulae was carried out using the two commercial herbal formulae; one for lowering hypercholesterolemia and the other for lowering obesity. Rats were divided into 2 major groups (control negative and hypercholesterolemic obese groups). All the groups of rats were fed the experimental diet for 4 weeks according to the following groups: Control negative group:control negative (5) rats were fed on basal diet all the time during the experimental period. Hypercholesterolemic obese rats:rats were kept for four weeks on high fat and cholesterol diet to induce the obesity and hypercholesterolemia ; rats were continued for high fat and cholesterol diet(10% tallow and1% cholesterol) all the time during the experimental period . Groups of rats were as follows:
Group (1):5 rats fed on basil diet as a control negative group for 28 days.Group(2) : 5 hypercholesterolemic obese rats were fed on basal diet as a control positive group for 28 days in which feeding continued for high fat and cholesterol diet. Group (3) : 5 hypercholesterolemic obese rats in which feeding continued for high fat and cholesterol diet and were fed on basal diet containing 10 % commercial herbal formula for correcting obesity Group (4):5 hypercholesterolemic obese rats in which feeding continued for high fat and cholesterol diet, fed on basal diet containing 10 % commercial herbal formula used for lowering hypercholesterolemia. Group (5):5 hypercholesterolemic obese rats in which feeding continued for high fat and cholesterol diet and fed on basal diet containing 10% formula A. Group (6):5 hypercholesterolemic obese rats in which feeding continued for high fat and cholesterol diet and fed on basal diet containing 10% formula B. Group(7):5hypercholesterolemic obese rats in which feeding continued for high fat and cholesterol diet and fed on basal diet containing 10% formula C. Group(8):5hypercholesterolemic obese rats in which feeding continued for high fat and cholesterol diet and fed on basal diet containing 10% formula D. At the end of the experimental, animals were sacrificed after 12 hours, fasting, blood sample collected and obtained from the hepatic portal veins. The obtained results could be summarized as follow: 1- Flavonoids Analysis Results
The highest content of flavonoids was recorded for formula A followed by formula C then commercial herbs for lowering cholesterolemia, formula D and commercial herbs for lowering obesity . Rosmarinic was detected in commercial herbs for lowering cholesterolemia, formula A,formula B,formula C and formula D ,while Rutin was detected in commercial herbs for lowering obesity, formula A and formula C.As for Quercitrin it was recorded for commercial herbs for.
