Abstract
This study compared condylar head position after mandibular fractures by open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF), using titanium miniplate osteosynthesis with or without maxillomandibular fixation. Twelve patients with fractures in the anterior mandibular region (symphyseal & parasymphyseal regions) were treated. They were divided randomly into two equal groups. All the patients were examined clinically and radiographically. A single standard, Lorenz 2mm thick titanium miniplate, placed almost mid-way between the inferior border of the mandible and the subapical region was used to treat each of the patients through a transoral , anterior vestibular incision .
