Abstract The present study was carried on 260 freshwater fishes species including 180 Tilapia (O.niloticus) , 80 Tilapia Zilli collected from private fish farms from Manzala and Gamasa, El-Dakahlia province from December 2011 till March 2012 The clinical signs of naturally infected fish were loss of appetite , lethargy and hemorrhagic areas especially in Tilapia Zilli ,the main signs were cotton wool like patches on the dorsal , caudal ,pectoral fins also appearance on the eye, head and mouth of fish and on the ulcerated skin of trunk region. Mycelial mats on eye region lead to opacity and blindness. from the present investigation, it could be concluded that:1-Saprolegniasis is considered very dangerous, affecting cultured freshwater fishes that found to be more prevalent in winter seasons. 2-Clove oil is considered wide spectrum antifungal agent and immune stimulant. The dose 15µl/L considered the optimum dose for treatment of saprolegniasis as it lower the percent of mortality and decrease the signs of saprolegnia. 3-The percent of infection increase in Manzala farm than Gamasa farm due to increase pollutants leading to lowering immunity and fish respond to this stress by increase cortisone level from anterior kidney. |
