Abstract

Only a few studies have evaluated the prediction role of day 3 serum LH levels, and with conflicting results. Till recently serum LH levels has been considered to be essential in diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome. Patients with PCOS, in many studies were likely to experience ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). So, anovulatory PCOS patients should start at 75 IU of gonadotropin per day. A smaller dose of 50 IU per day sometimes was necessary to minimize the risk for OHSS. In our study we decided to investigate the relation between basal LH level in non PCOS patients and ICSI outcome regarding to clinical pregnancy, oocyte number, OHSS risk and HMG consumption. After data analysis we found that there is no relation between LH level and pregnancy outcome. But group III had shown statistical significance in cancellation rate.We conclude that our finding reveal no relationships between basal LH level and pregnancy rate, HMG consumption, ocyte number or risk of OHSS development in patient not suffering of PCOS. This mean that basal LH level has no useful predictive value for ICSI outcome.
