Abstract The nurse has a major role in Central Venous Catheter (CVC) care, and must have the necessary knowledge and skills to be able to provide this care. The aim of this study was to assess nurses’ performance in providing care to patients with central venous catheter. The study was carried out on all (66) available nurses at critical care units in Ismailia University Hospital, AL-Soliman Hospital, and Al-Mabarah Hospital. The data collection tools included a self-administered questionnaire and an observation checklist. The study concludes that the nurses providing care for CVC have deficient knowledge and worse practice, with bachelor nurses having better knowledge and practice. Further research is suggested to assess the effectiveness of various educational approaches in improving nurses’ knowledge and practice related to CVC care. |
