Abstract The present study, designed as descriptive analytic, was carried on 53 nurses working in intensive care units at Port Said General Hospital, Port Fouad Hospital and El-Zohour Hospital. This study aims to assess nurses’ occupational hazards at General Hospitals in Port Said City. The data were collected using two tools: risk assessment questionnaire sheets and an observational checklist. The results of this study revealed that, the studied nurses were exposed to chemical, psychological, environmental Imechanical, biological and physical hazards, respectively. As well the highest total mean score were of the nurses who utilized chemical safety measures. Moreover, it has been found statistically significant relation between place of work and nurses’ exposure to biological and physical hazards. As well, there are statistically significant relations between nurses’ utilization of safety measures against biological, chemical, environmental Imechanical and physical hazards and their place of work . The present study recommends that, improvement of nurses’ knowledge and practice about occupational hazards and methods of compliance, and establishment of risk management committees in Port Said General Hospitals. |
