Abstract Synovial disorders of the knee joint can be classified according to the etiology into inflammatory as in rheumatoid and other seronegative arthritis, infectious as in tuberculosis and other nonspecific bacterial infections, degenerative as in osteoarthritis, traumatic as in posttraumatic synovitis, hemorrhagic arthropathies, especially in hemophiliacs, and neoplastic as in synovial hemangioma, synovial sarcoma. Other tumor-like conditions include pigmented villonodular synovitis, synovial chondromatosis, and lipoma arborescens. Assessment of patients with synovial disorders of the knee joint should be carried out in a systematic fashion including: • History &Examination. • Investigations:Routine Laboratory tests, ESR, CRP and its titre , Rheumatoid factor, total and diffrentional leucocytic count ) • Radiographic evaluation& MRI. Treatment of synovial disorders of the knee joint depending on the cause,and including conservative measures and surgical intervention. conservative measures generally includes anti-inflammatory drugs, cold or heat therapy, corticosteroid injections, and rest from aggravating activity. physiotherapy to improve range of motion ,Specific treatment is based upon both the presumed cause and the particular patient’s response to medication. |
