Abstract Emotional intelligence plays a vital role in conflict resolution and appears to be an enhancing factor that tends to increase group cohesiveness. The study aims to investigate the relationships among emotional intelligence, conflict resolution strategies, and group cohesiveness among nurses. A sample of 310 nurses was selected from Ministry of Health and Health Insurance Hospitals. Three tools were used; Emotional Intelligence Scale, Conflict self-Assessment scale; and Group Cohesiveness Scale. The results of this study revealed that a statistically significant relation between emotional intelligence and collaborating, compromising, accommodating and competing conflict management strategies. Also, statistically significant relation between compromising conflict management strategy and group cohesiveness. Finally, collaborating, compromising, and accommodating conflict management strategies were significantly predicted by emotional intelligence and group cohesiveness. Recommendations: In services training program on emotional intelligence should be conducted for nurses; Emotional intelligence courses should be included in undergraduate and postgraduate nursing curricula to increase nurses’ emotional intelligence. |
