Abstract

Out of one thousand of genital tract of she-camel were examined at Kaluobia abattoirs for studying the relation between the uterus, oviducts, ovaries and kidneys lesions. One hundred and thirty ones showed different pathological lesions with a total incidence of 13 % .
Uterine affections were classified into:
I-1] Catarrhal endometritis :
a]Acute catarrhal endometritis with incidence- of 23.76%.
b]Chronic catarrhal endometritis with incidence of 33.84%.
c]Chronic polypoid catarrhal endometrilis with incidence of
3.84%.
d]Chronic cystic catarrhal endometritis with incidence of
(3.07 %).
1-2] Suppurative metritis :-
a]Acute suppurative metritis with incidence of 12.3%.
b]Chronic suppurative metritis with incidence of 15.35%. c- Pyometra, with incidence of 5.38%
1-3] Granulomatous metritis, with incidence of 2.3%. II ] Neoplasm , with incidence of 0.769 % .
In case of acute catarrhal endometritis the affected uteri showed grayish white mucous which flow on the congested
uterine mucosae. The microscopic findings of the affected uteri showed desquamation of the lining epithelium, submucosal leucoytic infiltration and pyknosis of the nuclei of uterine glands. with. diffuse submucosal hemorrhage and perivascular mononuclear cellular infiltration were prominent.
The ovary of such cases revealed mononuclear cellular aggregation in their stroma with formation of follicular cyst formed from degenerated granulosa cells and theca lutein cells.
Meanwhile the oviduct in such cases showed focal
mononuclear infiltration in their wall.
The kidneys revealed congestion and shrinkage of the glomerular tuft. Moreover the renal tubules showed desquamation of their lining epithelium with the presence of eosinophilic debris and granular casts in their luminae.
The isolated bacteria in this cases were E.coli Proteus species, klebsiella, Citrobacter, Enterobacter species and Micrococcus letus.
In chronic catarrhal endometritis, the affected uteri showed thickening of the uterine wall with the presence of dark brownish or grayish exudate in the uterine mucosae.
Microscopical examination of the affected uteri showed desquamation of their lining epithelium with heavy submucosal hemosiderosis. Foldy formation in the uterine mucosae with the presence of esinophilic debris in their lumina: infiltrated with mononuclear cells were also detected. Fibrous connective tissue proliferation around the uterine glands were also seen. Thrombosis of most of uterine blood vessels with hyalinization of its wall were
seen.
The ovary of such affected cases showed presence of atretic follicles formed from 2-3 layers of degenerated granulosa cell. Follicular cyst showed degenerative changes in the granulosa cells and theca lutin cells with necrotic changes was also detected.
The oviduct in such cases showed slight desquamation of their lining epithelium cells with submucosal edema and
mononuclear cellular infiltration.
The kidneys showed desquamation of their lining
epithelium of the renal tubules with the presence of eosinophilic debris and granular eosinophilic casts in their laminae.
The isolated bacteria in this cases were Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiela species Eonterobacter species, E.coli, Proteus species and Citrobacter,
In chronic polvpoid catarrhal endometritis the affected uteri grossly showed thickening of the uterine wall with foldy formation on the uterine mucosae which contain grayish white sticky exudate and petechial hemorrhage on their surface.
Microscopically there were hyperplasia of the uterine mucosae and desquamation of the lining epithelium with infiltration of mononuclear cells in their lumina. The endometrial glands showed periductal fibrous connective tissue proliferation mononuclear cellular infiltration and periglandular hemorrhage were also detected .
The isolated bacteria in this cases were Micrococcus letus, E.coli, Proteus species and Citrobacter species.
In Cases of chronic cystic catarrhal endometritis
grossly the uteri showed multiple cysts ranged from few millimeter up to 2 centimeter in diameter. Upon cutting section clear or turbid fluid come out.
The microscopical findings showed presence of multiple submucosal cysts with thin wall lined with degenerated flattened epithelium and surrounded by fibrous connective tissue.
The ovary in such cases showed presence of degenerative changes in granulosa cells of the graffian follicles represented by corregation in its wall.
The kidneys grossly showed thickening of the renal capsule with the presence of petechiae on their cut surfaces.
Microscopical examination revealed congestion of
glomerular tuft and intertubular blood capillaries. The renal tubules showed desqumation of their lining epithelium with the presence of eosinophilic debris and granular casts in their lumina.
The isolated bacteria in this cases were Micrococcus letus, E.coli, Proteus species and Citrobacter.
