Abstract

The main purpose of fire alarm system is providing an early warning of fire so building can be evacuated & immediate action can be taken to stop or eliminate the fire effect as soon as possible. The fire alarm system consists of fire alarm control system, automatic detectors (Smoke, Heat or Gas detector for instance), the fire alarm system can also be integrated with access control system, fire fighting systems, Building Management System (BMS).....etc.By using of automatic detectors, we detect an early smoke, heat and gas particles in the air. We use sirens or alarm bells to alert alarm; In addition we use an indicator lamp to indicate the area where fire exists.The fire alarm systems wiring are a wireless system or a wired, the most use of fire alarm system in Egypt is a wire fire alarm system according to National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 72, the disadvantage for that system type be resistance cable used.Object is to design intelligent fire alarm system partially wireless. Since the normal intelligent system in the market is highly expensive system, so we are suggesting a system using addressed cheap conventional detectors.Thesis has discussed the design and the implementation of fire alarm system which is controlled by ATMEGA32 microcontroller. master unit controller, is used to indicate situations of the detectors which have three states of operation, an alarm state, a trouble state and a standby state. The unit which has the detectors is called a slave unit controller.Input signal coming from the normally opened warning devices such as heat detector,smoke detector and master key is sent into a detectable instrument to separate the mode of working state. After that, output signal is dispatched to ATMEGA32 microcontroller for analysis. This microcontroller can transfer data and display the situation of detector in Abstract 3 states. Comparing this technique with another conventional controller having the same specifications, this Controller can be more easily used and installed. This is because of working with no specific fire alarm devices, and because of wireless transmission between master and SLAVE units, using Zigbee module. The suggested design protective area can be a wide area like hangars, stores, shops…..etc. To minimize the total cost of system components and maintenance in that are comparing the proposed design with exiting market Mircom and Silent Knight Alarm Systems, for instance, as shown in appendix [B]; we find also that my design provides the lowest total power dissipation especially in the standby state.
