Abstract

This study was carried out at the Poultry Research Farm, Department of Poultry Production, Faculty of Agriculture,
Minufiya University and Shebin – El - Kom.
The objective of this investigation was to study the effects of
dietary supplementation of copper (Cu) on some productive,
reproductive traits, blood components and economical efficiency of
Norfa chicken.
A total number one hundred and fifty (105 females and 45
males) Norfa chick 21 weeks old were weighed and randomly
distributed in to five experimental groups, each group contained 30
birds (21 females and 9 males). Birds in each treatment were reared
under similar hygienic and managerial conditions. Birds were
housed in individual cages. The birds of each treatment (21 females
and 9 males) were taken at random, weighed then divided into
equal three replicates (7 females and 3 males). Throughout the
experimental period, feed and fresh water were available (ad
libitum) all the time. Artificial light was used beside the normal day
light to provide 16 hour photo period. Copper sulfate pentahydrate
(CuSo4, 5H2o) was added in the basal diet to supply 0, 100, 200,
300 and 400 mg Cu / kg diet for experimental groups 1, 2, 3, 4 and
5, respectively, and fed to the five experimental groups of chicken
from 21 to 40 weeks.
