In recent years, electronic games, home computers, and the Internet have
assumed an important place in the life. Many studies present a review on the
impact of computer use on the development of children and adolescents.
Research including the impact of computer use on cognitive skill and academic
development.
The general objectives of the present study were rationalization of
computer using for improving the quality of life through study the percentage
and frequency of computer use by students and study the effect of computer use
on students academic achievement.
This study was carried out in two primary schools in kafer Elshikh
government. Elzohor school and Elsalam school were chosen by simple random
sample. The total number of students were 567 only 552 students respond to the
study. DROP out rate was 15 student out of 567 which represent about 2.64%.
The students were 245 males and 307 females, the mean age was 5 years
ranging from 7 years to 11 years. In this study, the students were about 7-9 years
56.7% (313 students), while 43.3% (239 students) were more than 9 years
to11years, the students were interviewed through using predesigned

to the computer at any place and the school achievement of these students
ranging from 70-100% from final marks. Computers were available for 72.3%
of studied students at school. Working in small groups on computer were among
51.4% of the studied students and individually among 14% . The frequency of
computer use was often among 72.3% or never among 28% from the studied
students .
It was found that 12.5 % of students always used computer for school
assignment and about 91.5% always used computer to play games. Also 4.7% of
students need help when using the computer and about 45.7% of the students
sometimes need help when working with graphics and pictures. About 10.5% of
the students thought that computer made school work easier, about 90.4% prefer
to use computers to do school-work instead of pencil and paper, about 80.6%

forward to the beginning of laptop use in classes and 50% of them computer
will affect their grades. About 91.7% want to learn many new skills to use
computer to do their schoolwork. There were non statistically significance
between boys & girls of participants and school achievement, and the
availability of computer. But there was between boys & girls and the frequency
of using the computer. There was statistically significance between boys & girls
and the presence of computer at schools being more for females. But individual
access significantly more in males. Females significantly always used computers
at school, there was statistically significance between boys & girls and the using
of computer for assignment being more for females. But playing games was
significantly more among boys. There was statistically significance regarding
boys & girls of the participants and frequency of using computer at school work
, perform calculations with spread sheets, searching information on the web,
communicating through e mails. There was statistically significance regarding
boys & girls of the participants and need of help while using computer either in
calculations and creating computer program, using the internet and There was
statistically significance between boys & girls and the thought that his
classmates know more about computers than the two more among boys. But
there was non statistically significance between age groups and the availability
of computer and frequency of using the computer. There was highly statistically
significance between the age groups and the presence of computer at schools
being more for older students. Access to computer in small groups significantly
more among older students. The older students highly significant always used
computers at school. There was highly statistically significance between age
groups and the using of computer for assignment being more for older students.
There was statistically significance regarding age groups of the participants and
frequency of using computer at school work, perform calculations with spread
sheets, searching information on the web, communicating through e mails,
working with graphics and pictures and using the internet being more among
older students. But there was non statistically significance between age groups
and playing games.
There was statistically significance regarding age groups of the
participants and need of help while using computer either in playing games,
calculations, creating computer program, using the internet, searching
information on the web, communicating through e mails and working with
graphics being more among younger students. There was statistically
significance between age groups and the thought that computer make
schoolwork more interesting being more among older groups. There was
statistically significance between age groups and the thought that his classmates
know more about computers than they do being . And the older group was
significantly enjoy when doing schoolwork. At the end there was non
statistically significance between computer use and school performance in this
study.
