المستخلص This study has been conducted in an attempt to: 1- Design a therapeutic program to change the cognitive structure based on principles of cognitive-behavioral therapy. 2- Investigate the effectiveness of a cognitive-behavioral therapy program in reducing social phobia and depression among addicts. 3- Increase rates of recovered addicts by reduce their suffering from the symptoms of social phobia and depression. THE SAMPLE : The sample consists of (20) male addict inpatients, was selected by intended way from the addiction treatment unit in Dar El- Mokattum hospital for mental health in Cairo. Their ages ranged at the time of the research between (20-25) years. The sample was randomly assigned to two groups, the first one is an experimental; (n=10) and the second one is a control; (n=10). They was tested by Structured interview (prepared by the researcher), Social phobia scale (Raulin & Wee, 1994 prepared and adapted by Magdy El Desoky, 2004), Beck depression inventory BDI- II) Beck, 1994 translated and adapted by Ghareeb Abd El Fattah, 2000), Addiction severity index (McLellan et al., 1980 translated by Hanna, A.W, 1998), Socio- economic culture scale (prepared and adapted by Mohamed El Beheiry, 2002) RESULTS : STATISTICAL ANALYSIS SHOOED THE FOLLOWING RESULTS: 1-A significant difference (< 0, 01) has been found between the mean rank scores of the experimental group on social phobia and depression scales at the pre- and post- testing in the direction of post test. 2- No significant difference exists between the mean rank scores of the control group on social phobia and depression scales at the pre- and post- testing. 3-A significant difference (< 0, 01) has been found between the mean rank scores of the experimental and control group on social phobia, depression and addiction severity scales at the post- testing in the direction of experimental group. 4- No significant difference exists between the mean rank scores of the experimental group on social phobia, depression and addiction severity scales at the post- and follow up testing. |
