Abstract

Chemotherapeutics are those chemical substances that are produced synthetically and used to destroy pathogenic microorganisms within the body. The thesis is devoted to the development of new methods for the analysis of some chemotherapeutics, namely: Trimethoprim (TMP), Levofloxacin (LEV), Clioquinol (CLIO) and Triclabendazole (TCB) in pharmaceutical preparations and/or biological fluids.
This thesis comprises six main parts.
The first one included a general introduction about chemotherapeutics and their classification.
A sensitive and specific liquid chromatographic method was introduced for the simultaneous determination of TMP and PHZ in their co-formulated tablets as well as in real human plasma.
Levofloxacin and ambroxol were simultaneously determined in their tablets by an accurate, sensitive and specific micellar liquid chromatographic method with UV detection. The method was applied to the determination of LEV in real human plasma.
A sensitive and specific reversed-phase liquid chromatographic method with UV-detection was developed for the simultaneous determination of CLIO and BETA in their co-formulated cream.
A sensitive and specific reversed-phase liquid chromatographic method with fluorimetric detection was developed for the determination of TCB in its laboratory prepared tablets as well as in spiked human plasma.
One highly sensitive stability-indicating spectrofluorimetric method was investigated for the determination of TCB in its tablets. The methods were extended to investigate the inherent stabilities of TCB after exposure to different stress degradation conditions. Also, the validation criteria of the developed method were intensively studied. All the results were statistically analyzed and compared with those obtained by official or comparison methods.
