Abstract Postoperative follow up for keratoplasty cases is considered an important factor in prognosis. Corneal thickness measurement may be needed for detection of subtle postoperative corneal edema, detection of displaced graft in DSEK and if we are going for correction of postoperative ametropia and astigmatism by LASIK or any corneal refractive surgery. Corneal pachymetry is the process of measuring the thickness of the cornea. It can be done using contact methods, such as ultrasound or non-contact methods, such as Scheimpflug imaging or anterior segment Optical Coherence Tomography. The contact methods inconvenient to the patient especially in the early follow up period. The present study aimed to compare post-keratoplasty central corneal thickness and peripheral corneal thickness at 2mm distance and 4mm distance superiorly, inferiorly , nasally and temporally as regards Visante anterior segment OCT and Oculyzer I in penetrating keratoplasty and lamellar keratoplasty within 2 years of the operations. Twenty eyes of patient who underwent keratoplasty operations in the last 2 years were examined. Seven cases were examined within the first 3 months of post-operative period and thirteen cases were examined after 3 months of the operation to 2 years. 10 cases were done as penetrating keratoplasty and 10 cases were done as lamellar keratoplasty (7 cases done as DALK operations and 3 cases done as DSEK operations). Control groups consisting of 10 eyes of normal volunteers who doesn’t have any chronic eye diseases nor underwent any eye surgery were examined by the same manner. Examination started with full history taking, and then every candidate was subjected to full ophthalmic examination by slit lamp biomicroscopy, UCVA and BCVA measurement and intraocular pressure measurement by Goldmann’s applanation tonometer. |
