Abstract

One of the most popular methods of controlling groundwater contaminant transport through porous media is to place an impermeable subsurface vertical double sheet piles in the flow path. The using of double sheet piles to be more effective for controlling the contaminant transport, many criteria must be met. The depth of double sheet piles should be down enough to delay the arrival of contaminant to downstream double sheet piles. Secondly, taking in account the horizontal distance between first and second sheet piles and the distance between the first sheet pile and the contamination source. The solution was used to draw some general conclusions about the effectiveness of vertical double sheet piles on the hydraulic control of contamin transport.
