Abstract

This work was carried on 20 patients with COPD
Each patient underwent the following:
Full history taking, complete clinical examination, routine laboratory investigations, ECG, chest X ray(postero-anterior View), pulmonary function tests at rest, after 3 MWT,and after 6 MWT.
The study shows significant decrease in pulmonary functions after 3 MWT, There was a significant DROP in large airway parameters including FVC, FEV1, and PEF immediately after exercise. associated with affection of small air way function in form of significant DROP in (FEF25-75%).
There was also a significant decrease in pulmonary functions after 6 MWT, There was a significant DROP in large airway parameters including FVC, FEV1, and PEF immediately after exercise. associated with affection of small air way function in form of significant DROP in (FEF25-75%).
The study also revealed that vo2 was significantly reduced (49.70 ± 17.96) after 6 minutes than (50.65 ± 18.91) after 3 minutes. (p=0.002 S )
The heart rate was highly significantly increased after 6 minutes exercise (71.72 ± 12.83) than after 3 minutes exercise (65.80 ± 14.71) (p= <0.001 HS )
PET CO2 was highly significantly elevated after 6 minutes exercise (38.35 ± 8.02) than after 3 minutes exercise (35.55 ± 6.96) (p= <0.001 HS )
