Abstract

The present experiment was carried out during two successive seasons of 2010 and 2011 in the nursery of ornamental plants, Fac. of Agric., Minia Univ. to study the influence of four soil salinity levels (0.0, 0.3, 0.5 and 0.7%) and two antioxidants (ascorbic and salicylic acids each at 100 and 200 ppm), as well as, the interaction between them on vegetative growth characters and chemical constituent parameters of one-year old Khaya senegalenisis seedlings. It is strongly recommended to foliar – spray Khaya senegalensis seedlings, grown under soil salinity stress, with either ascorbic acid or salicylic acid at 200 ppm, in order to accelerate and improve different vegetative growth traits and to promote various chemical constituents such as photosynthetic pigments and N, P and K and to minimize each of sodium, calcium and proline in the leaves.
