Abstract

The islarnic garden is at the heart of four great traditions of the world of
Landscape design Middle Eastern. Oriental. renarssance European and
eighteenth century English. from it one on say chat the great
symmetrical gardens of Italy and France denved.’
These Traditions were -individually- very characteristic in terms of stvle
and attitude towards nature.
The muslirn landscape designer in the dry landscape of the desert
experienced humility before the power of nature. therefore. created an
ideal walled off from its destructiveness.
This was. and is. built around life-giving water. fruit trees and shade.
ordered by geometry of irrigation and shaped into a symbol of paradise.
However. a landscape is not only an area but our envision of that area. lt is
designed to satisfy needs as well as to express a moral and aesthetic ideal.
The Islarnic landscape designer seek to embody man’s connection with the
source of life. The cities. buildings. gardens and landscapes are therefore
shaped to become symbolic links between heavenly order and earthly
The great gardens of the world such as Alhambra at Granada. Taj Mahal at
agra and Shalarmar at Kashmir are not only renowned because or their
aesthetic qualities but also for their orientation towards nature.
The injunctions of the Quran and Sunnah that governs the relationship
between man and nature are numerous. Islam has established basis
regarding the use of land, water. vegetation and nature.
from the world’s persisting current problem of drawing the attention to a
rightful attitude towards nature. comes the importance of this research.
