Abstract

15% Of Newly Diagnosed Cancers In Population Younger Than30 Years Of Age. Osteosarcoma And Ewing’s Sarcoma Are The Two Most Common Malignant Conditions Of Bone. (Kneisl Et Al 2006)Diagnostic Investigations Include Plain Biplanar Radiographs And Mri Of The Limb, Ct Scans Of The Chest And Total Body Scintigraphy. Mri Is Used To Define The Extent Of The Lesion, The Involvement Of The Softtissues,The Relationship To The Neurovascular Bundle And The Planned Level Of Transection Of The Bone(Uyttendaele Et Al 1988).Before The 1970s, Management Routinely Consisted Of Transbone Amputations Or Disarticulations, With Survival Rates Of 10%To 20%. The Treatment And Prognosis Of Bone Cancers Have Changed Dramatically Since Adjuvant Chemotherapy Began To Be Used. Radical Ablative Surgery Has Been The Favored By Limb Salvage By Procedures Consisting Of En Blockresection Of The Tumor And Reconstruction With A Prosthesis, An Allograft Or A Bridging Technique, As Introduced By Juvara(Bacci Et Al 2004).Limb Salvage In Extremity Tumors Is Now Established As An Oncologically Safe Option Without Compromising Long-Term Survival.Emphasis Is Placed On Several Principles That Are The Key To The Success Ofthis Technique,First, Identification Of Vascular Structure, Secondly,Achieving An Appropriate Margin And Lastly Reconstruction Of Soft Tissue Coverage For Optimal Function.(Bacci Et Al 2004)There Are Many Methods For Reconstruction One Of Them Is Resection Arthrodesis Which Is Rarely Recommended Nowadays Due To Loss Of Function. Endoprothesis Is A Successful Method But With Some Problems Like Ability Of Lengthening, Fracture, Rejection, And Also Cost Wise. (Indelicato Et Al 2008)2.
