Abstract This thesis is focused on the preparation and characterization employing elemental and thermal analysis, spectroscopic (UV-Vis, IR, NMR and mass) of new complexes of biacetylmonooxime Girard’s T (BMGT) and oxalyl diphenyl thiosemicarbazide with Cu2+, Co2+, Mn2+ and Hg2+ chlorides. It also includes the analytical application of the resulted ligands and their complexes. Discussion on the capability of BMGT to chelate trace concentrations of metal ions in aquous media. In addition, the parameters influencing the floatability efficiency were seriously investigated to reach the best conditions to complete the reaction and hence complete removal of traces of metals from different analytes. The usage of the studied ligand (ODPTSC) in the cloud point extraction, which is one of the most facile preconcentration techniques, were investigated. Several parameters that control the recovery efficiency as pH value, concentration of surfactant, concentration of ligand, concentration of metal ion, temperature and incubation time were observed. The ligand was used to remove trace concentrations of copper and manganese from real water samples under the optimum conditions for the complete reaction. |
