These animals depend on grazing on natural vegetation in this arid zone . Southern Sinai ·is triangular in shape with its apex at Ras Mohammed to the south. It is bounded to the east and west by El Aqaba and Suez Gulfs, respectively. The region includes mountainous areas (e.g. 2628 m. Saint Catherine) and the eastern side is characterized by numerous weak lines which appear in the form of faults and joints, that are generally parallel to the Gulf of Aqaba. The ~egion of Hills and Mountains cover 16,000 Km2 , occupy the North Eastern part of the Peninsula. The Northern and North western coastal plains are characterized by h~gh population, cultivable soils and abundance of water resources. In the western coastal plains Wadi Sudr, Wadi Wardan, Wadi Asal, Wadi Gharandal, W. Baba and w. Sidri are the most outstanding drainage_lines. The eastern coastal plains are of limited width, Sharm El-Sbeikh Dabab, Cluweiba and Taba are the most famous localities |
