Abstract

Nutrition status of university student reflects their food
habits, which are subjected to several factors. A random sample 150 boarder student from Physical
Education Faculty as practical collage (35 male-40female) And
Faculty of Law as theoretical collage(35 male-40 female) Aged
18-22 years selected from two university housing in El-sadat
university, Menoufia governorate. The aim of this study was to:  Assessment of nutrient intake from food consumption data collected by the 24–hr recall method  Estimation of the adequacy of diet as compared to the
Dietary Recommended Intake(DRI).  Taking body measurement of relevance in evaluating the nutritional status  Studying the factors that might influence the nutrition
status for boarder students.  Identifying the major nutritional problem among the  Suggesting the necessary advice to improve the nutritional
status for theoretical and practical boarder student. A questionnaire was accomplished to collect data about socio
–economic data i.e age, sex. Diet history food pattern: 24-hours recall anthropometric measurements: height, weight, arm circumference and triceps skin folds were recorded and compared to the standard. selected population. Menus served at El-Sadat University were analyses using the
computer food analysis program ( Faculty of Home Economic,
Menofiua University, 1996) to determine the nutritive value by
using computer program. The attitude of student’s preference of
food was recorded; a comparison of food intake between
practical and theoretical collage was studied. Results of dietary intake showed that energy value was
considerably lower than DRI which was for male group in
Faculty of Law and male in Faculty of Physical Education were
80%and 92% respectively and for female group in Faculty of
Law and female in Faculty of Physical Education were 84% and
85%respectively. The mean protein intake was more than DRI, calcium intake value was considerably lower than DRI which was for male group in Faculty of Law and male in Faculty of Physical Education were 58% and 62% respectively and for female group in Faculty of Law and female in Faculty of Physical Education were 39.9% and 45.2% respectively, The students consumed more than DRI (for vit B1, B2, Niacin and vitamin C)while the reverse was noticed for vit A for both students and iron consumption by female which was for female group in Faculty of Law and female in Faculty of Physical Education were 87%and 91% respectively. The obtained data on the anthropometric measurements
showed that average the weight for male group in Faculty of
Law and male in Faculty of Physical Education were
77.800±11.618 and 71.428±7.597 kg respectively, the weight
for female group in Faculty of Law and female in Faculty of
Physical Education were 73.425 ±14.530 and 71.400 ±7.722 kg
respectively, TSF values for male group in Faculty of Law and
male in Faculty of Physical Education were 1.182±.46997 and
.797± 252cm respectively, TSF for female group in Faculty of Law and female in Faculty of Physical Education were 1.270 ± .496 and .887±.413cm respectively, AMC values for male group
in Faculty of Law and male in Faculty of Physical Education were 24.496±2.090 and 26.204±2.837 cm respectively, AMC values for female group in Faculty of Law and female in Faculty of Physical Education were 23.523±2.605 and 25.879±3.024cm respectively. Analyses of menus served at El-sadaat university that the
gross chemical composition of menus provided to students with:
energy value 3100 Kcal/day, vit A 1000 mg, thiamin 10(mg), riboflavin 6(mg), niacin 24(mg) and vit C 200(mg). Results of nutrient intake expressed as percentage of DRI. The total calories derived from protein intake for male group
in Faculty of Law and male in Faculty of Physical Education
were 13.3% and 13.7% respectively and for female group in Faculty of Law and female in Faculty of Physical Education were 13.8% and 15% ,respectively.
