Abstract Otitis media with effusion is the most common cause of hearing loss in childhood. It may be a principal cause for school retardation in children. The study included 40 cases of otitis media with effusion below the age of 15 years in outpatient clinic, Otorhinolaryngology department, Beni-sweif University. We evaluate safety and efficacy of usage of Mitomycin C (0.4 mg/ml) alone and compare it with its combined usage with topical dexamethasone in human tympanostomy in these patients. This study reported that it is safe to use Mitomycin C (0.4 mg/ml) on human tympanostomy preoperatively. And daily topical application of Dexamethasone is helpful in improving outcome and decreasing post-operative complications. |
