Abstract INRODUCTION The studied area lies in the north-eastern portion of the .c;. ... 6 ’ Western Desert:, between Latitudes JO 30-Jl 00 ~ and (:1 ’ 0 ... Longitudes 29 00-30 00 E. It covers a surface area of about 5220 Km2.(!’1g. l). :\o prominent physiographic features are observed ln this area. Geomorphologically the area is character iz.ed by relatively scarce and low amplitude topographic features. In the investigated area , their are four drilled wells. These wells are llAx-1 , NWD-JlO-i , Sha.tut-l and AEB-lx. No ail or gas shows was encountered ic, the.se wells. All the available data obtained froa the surro~cding wells , such as Alamein-lx , Fayad-i Ti ba-1 Zebeida-1 and Wadi il Natrun-1 are taken into consideration in this study. There are soQe oll and gas fields , such as Alamein , Yidma Razzak and Abu Qir Fields , which are :ocated to the west and south-west of the studied area. Generally che studied area is coverd Pliocene-Quaternary sediments. The surface geology of by t h L s area is not considered of complex nature. Along the c~ascal area , Pliocene shales and sandstones are exposed limited extension. There are some elongated low relief a~d offshore bars that run paralel to the shore line and are believed to be of Pliestocene-Recent time. This study is based mainly on seismic and gravity data. The seismic data includes (37) seismic lines , which cover the studied area , sonic logs and velocity surveys for the different wells. The Bouguer gravity map was prepared by Sahara Oil Company (SAPETCO) ~odified later by the General in 1955-1958. This map was Petroleum Oil Compay (GPC) which classified more stations to give more accurate data. The purpose of this study is to analyse the tectonic evolution of the studied area as refle~ted from different structure contour maps on selecteu tops. ~loreover interpretation of the gravity data an.d Lhe dete.:mination of their causative sources~ In order to achieve this goal , the following procedures were carried out 1- Construction of three velocity maps on tops of Qatrani Abu Roash and Alamein Formations. |
