- STUDY PROBLEM:Based on the review of literature, the present study examined the effect of using the electronic book on achievement and developing some basic science processes skills in computer and information technology course for preparatory stage pupils. The study problem was stated in the following main question: ** What is the effect of using the electronic book on achievement and developing some basic science processes skills in computer and information technology course for preparatory stage pupils?It was divided into two sub-questions: 1- What is the effect of using the electronic book on achievement in computer and information technology course for preparatory stage pupils? 2- What is the effect of using the electronic book on developing some basic science processes skills in computer and information technology course for preparatory stage pupils?- STUDY OBJECTIVES: * Designing and producing an electronic book in computer and information technology course in the light of the recent technology. * Investigating the effect of using the electronic book on achievement and developing some basic science processes skills in computer and information technology course for preparatory stage pupils.- STUDY HYPOTHESES: * There are statistically significant differences between the experimental group’s scores means in the pre-application and the post-application of the achievement test, in favour of the post-application.* There are statistically significant differences between the experimental group’s scores means in the pre-application and the post-application of the basic science processes scale, in favour of the post-application. - STUDY SAMPLE: The present study sample consisted of 60 pupils in the first grade at Kafr-Kurdy Prep School, Benha Educational Administration, Qalubiya Governorate. It was divided into two groups, 30 for the control and 30 for the experimental one. - STUDY PROCEDURES: 1- Reviewing the previous literature related to the present study variables. 2- Choosing a unit from the computer and information technology course, for first grade prep pupils. 3- Designing an electronic book and submitting it to a jury of experts for content validity. 4- Preparing the study tools and validating them by a jury of experts. 5- Drawing the study sample. 6- Administering the study tools as a pre-application. 7- Experimenting the proposed electronic book. 8- Administering the study tools as a post-application. 9- Treating the data statistically and interpreting the findings. 10- Suggesting the study recommendations.- STUDY FINDINGS: The present study reached the following findings: * The electronic book was designed and produced for developing some basic science processes skills in computer and information technology course for preparatory stage pupils. * There were statistically significant differences at 0.01 level between the experimental group’s scores means in the pre-application and the post-application of the achievement test, in favour of the post-application. * There were statistically significant differences at 0.01 level between the experimental group’s scores means in the pre-application and the post-application of the basic science processes scale, in favour of the post-application.
