Abstract
Ultrasonography is one of the most important
diagnostic tools in surgery. Barnett ’~ Morley, (19”/4),
has used it in the investigation and diagnosis of
partically all varities of abdominal swellings.
Ultrasound has become established as one of the
most significant useful techniques which provides
valuable information In diagnosis of intra-abdominal
swellings. It records c:ross section,
relationships, internal architecture of
structures, and related swellings.

Ultrasonography is non invasive, hazardless, and
painless method that requires the least preparation of
the patient. It can be done in acute and emergency
conditions as well as in pregnant females and young
children without harm.
