Abstract This dissertation deals with numerical schemes for solving boundary value problems using B-spline method. There are six chapters in the dissertation. The first chapter is introduction. The second chapter covers the basic topics in B-spline functions and their main properties. Chapter three gives numerical scheme based on finite difference and cubic B-spline for solving second order time-dependent linear and non-linear boundary value problem and error analysis is performed. In chapter four, numerical scheme based on cubic B-spline is applied on time dependent Emden-Fowler problem which contains singular term at . Chapter five uses the quintic B-spline for solving linear non-homogeneous fourth order time dependent problem, the error analysis of the method is described. In Chapter 6, quartic B-spline is used to solve Falkner-Skan equation and we use new algorithm based on Newton and Secant methods to solve non-linear system. Finally chapter seven deals with conclusion and suggested future work. |
