Abstract The present work is concerned with the chemical preparation and characterization of montmorillonite ethylenediamine composites and studying their catalytic activity towards the decolorization of some dyes such as Acid red 29 (Chromotrope 2R), Acid red 176 Chromotrope 2B) and Acid blue 29. Since the industrial wastewater streams may contain large amount of these dyes as pollutants, the untreated streams are practically objectionable if discharged into open water This thesis contains four chapters. The first chapter embraces an introduction on the problems of water pollution, the methods of water treatment (physical, biological and chemical) in addition to some aspects of the concerned dyes and montmorillonite clay. It also contains a literature survey on the different tools for the treatment of these dyes The second chapter includes the experimental part which describes the materials and the methods of preparation of catalysts. The kinetic measurement of the reaction rate is also included. |
