Abstract Summary and Conclusion Our study is a randomized controlled study to compare skin closure between subcuticular stitches and metallic staples as regard postoperative pain, skin closure time, surgical site infection, cosmetic appearance and women satisfaction. Immediate postoperative pain and after 6 days is similar after skin closure with metallic staples and with subcuticular stitches. Postoperative pain after skin closure of cesarean section with metallic staples at 6 weeks is less than postoperative pain after skin closure of cesarean section with subcuticular stitches at 6 weeks. Skin closure time is less in skin closure with metallic staples than skin closure with subcuticular stitches. There was no difference in surgical site infection after skin closure with metallic staples and with subcuticular stitches. There was no difference in incision appearance at 6 weeks in skin closure with metallic staples and with subcuticular stitches. There was no difference in women satisfaction as regard post operative pain and incision appearance in skin closure with metallic staples and with subcuticular stitches. |
