Abstract The present study investigated the different changes induced by the acute administration of bacterial endotoxins. The male adult albino rats of Spragu-Dawely strain were chosen as an animal model for the present study. Three groups of animals were injected amg/kg body weight, i.p.) with three types of bacterial endotoxind (E. coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Salmonella typhimurium) single dose. The control group was injected i.p. (1 mg/kg) with as 0.9% normal saline. Blood sampling was performed from the orbital vein plexus after 24 hr and 72 hr. At the end of 72 hr, the animals were killed by using chloroform anaethesia, then immediately they were dissected to obtain the femoral bone for bone marrow extraction. The bone marrow was harvested from the femoral bone and embeded in albumin suspension, then bone marrow smear examination was performed. The previous samples were used to study the different effects of the three types of bacterial endotoxins on the following parameters: 1- Effect of bacterial endotoxins on bone marrow cells. 2- Effect of bacterial endotoxins on some blood components. 3- Effect of bacterial endotoxins on some biochemical values. 1. Effect Of Bacterial Endotoxins On Bone Marrow Cells: All the previous groups were used throughout the experiment to observe the effect of bacterial endotoxins on the bone marrow differential (after 72 hr). |
