Abstract

Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer among women in
developing countries. The aim of the study is screening women for early
detection of cervical cancer using visual inspection with acetic acid. Design.
A survey research design was used to fill the aim of the study. Settings. The
study was conducted in Family Planning Clinics at El-Shohada Hospital and
Salmoon Kably Health Unit at Menoufiya Governorate.Sample all women
(n=1150 women) attending to Gynecological Clinic and Family Planning
Clinic for insertion or removal of Loop in a period of six months from the
start of data collection. Tools of data collection: Two tools were used A.
Structured interview questionnaire.B. Observation sheet of the woman’s
cervix using: Visual Inspection with Acetic acid (vinegar swab) was done to
identify positive cases of cervical cancer. Results: The results showed that
13 case (1.1%) from 1150 had positive Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid
(VIA), and the researcher referred them to the specialist.Conclusion
screening for cervical cancer using visual inspection with acetic acid is
effective and the researcher revealed 13 cases (1.1%). Recommendation
Providing cervical cancer screening programme in primary health care
services, using visual inspection with acetic acid, since it is cost effective.
